A grant of US$25,893 will help Lions implement Lions Quest as a pilot program in five San José, Costa Rica, schools. Lions will be involved with the pilot program, which includes one Lions Quest training workshop for 40 teachers. This program will benefit more than 3,100 students.
A SightFirst grant of US$185,895 was given to the Lions of District 2-S2, Texas (USA), who have partnered with the University of Texas Medical School to expand and improve low vision services offered in the Houston metropolitan area. The project will develop a framework to implement group occupational therapy, establish low vision device lending libraries accompanied with patient training, and conduct a large-scale low vision awareness campaign.
Lions Clubs International Foundation has surpassed more than US$2 million for relief in the Philippines following Typhoon Haiyan thanks to generous Lions and friends worldwide. These funds are helping Lions to provide for basic needs including food, water, clothing and medicine, as well as provide long-term disaster relief efforts and reconstruction.
