Measles Banner Patches for Clubs
LCIF Coordinators have been sent a list of clubs that will receive banner patches for donations to the One Shot, One Life: Lions Measles Initiative. There are three banner patches: a bronze patch for donations of US$50 per member, a silver patch for donations of US$100 per member, and a gold patch for donations of US$250 per member. These donations could be from the club or members of the club. The club will be notified by post in the upcoming weeks with a thank you letter and the patch. Please extend your congratulations to these clubs.
LCIF Semiannual Reporting
As you know, our greatest priority this month is reporting on the goals that have been set for each district and multiple district. LCIF Multiple District Coordinators should already have contacted their District Coordinators to discuss the progress that they have made toward setting and submitting goals for the current year.
Here are some important dates related to goal-setting:
January 7, 2013: LCIF MDCs are asked to contact their DC teams by phone to collect information on each DC's progress toward completing their goals. This form can be found online here.
January 28, 2013: LCIF MDCs will each phone in a mid-year progress report on district and MD goals to their respective Steering Committee member. This form can be found online here.
Hopefully, the goal setting process will not only enable you to identify a challenging fundraising goal, but also this process will help you to create a workable plan for attaining that goal. If you need additional support, please don't hesitate to directly contact your Steering Committee member or your LCIF Regional Development Specialist.
Special Offer on Lions Lens Cleaning Kits
Many of you may have read about Tim's miracle in the September 2012 edition of the LION magazine. This is an incredible story of saving a young man’s sight through funds raised by the Somers Lions club of New York. Through a partnership with Carl Zeiss, Inc and Nanofilm, the club created a lens-cleaning kit that Lions Clubs can sell to raise funds. This is how the Somers club raised funds to help Tim.
Each case of 36 kits costs US$216, which includes shipping and a donation to LCIF of US$1.50 per kit. The suggested retail price is US$10 per kit with a profit of US$4 per kit for the Lions Club.
For a limited time, LCIF has a special offer to publicize to clubs. Nanofilm President Scott Rickert has announced that, for every lens cleaner kit order (a minimum of 1 case) received by December 31, 2012, they will donate an additional $1.00 to LCIF. This will increase the royalty paid to LCIF to $2.50 per kit! Clubs should take advantage of this special offer to support LCIF. LCIF will recognize clubs that sell 15 cases (Platinum certificates), 10 cases (Gold certificates) and 5 cases (Silver certificates) ordered this Lions Year ending June 30, 2013. Kits can be ordered at www.lionslenscleaner.com
We believe that there is a Tim's Miracle waiting to happen in every community serviced by a Lions Club!
US$10 Million Measles Goal Reached!
It is with great pleasure that Chairperson Tam announces the One Shot, One Life: Lions Measles Initiative has exceeded our US$10 million challenge goal. The generosity of clubs and individuals from around the world contributed to this achievement and because Lions have responded to this challenge, millions of children will never experience measles or the related serious complications. LCIF is still accepting measles donations and they are still eligible for Melvin Jones Fellowship recognition. Donate online now.
Melvin Jones Fellowship Program Changes
Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) will now be able to help more people than ever before. Melvin Jones Fellowship (MJF) eligibility now includes donations to five areas. Donors will now be able to receive MJF and PMJF credit when directing their support to these areas.
